Ministry of Education and Training - Rapid assessment of global crisis impact on Vietnam Education - 2010
Project Description:
The rapid assessment investigated the scope of impact of the economic crisis across the education sector in Vietnam, in order for the Government, in particular the MOET and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) to respond to the crisis as early as possible. The assessment provided situational analysis of the possible impacts of the ongoing economic downturn in the education sector; identified resilient as well as susceptible/ vulnerable areas and the sub-sectors; and suggested possible interventions to address some of the impacts/vulnerabilities.

Project Description:
Worked jointly with the National Research Institute for Educational Sciences (RIES) of Lao PDR to design tests which measure student achievement, and provided data to measure progress since the First Round assessment, data entry and analysis, and report writing.

Project Description:
An international team of six education specialists provided technical input and expert advice into the creation of a detailed survey implementation master plan for a comprehensive survey of the Grade 5 cohort.
This included the design of questionnaires for 72,000 grade 5 students in 3,840 primary schools with teachers and students involved in the survey, revision and finalization of the questionnaires for training. They provided domestic consultants with guidelines on principles and methods of designing Mathematics and Vietnamese language tests for grade 5 students, teachers and principals with skill assessment guidelines.
