Gabrielle is a Development Economist with a strong background in data engineering and analytics. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Quantitative Methods from the University of Western Australia and an MSc in Development Economics from the University of Sussex. Her masters thesis examined the relationship between natural disasters—specifically floods and droughts—and migration patterns in Bangladesh.
Prior to joining Mekong Economics, Gabrielle was a Data Engineer in the Mining industry. Her work primarily involved data engineering, analytics, and digital product development, with a focus on building and maintaining data pipelines, structuring complex datasets, and developing interactive tools for stakeholders. Gabrielle’s experience honed her ability to leverage data for operational efficiency, financial planning, and workforce analytics, reinforcing her ability to bridge the gap between data science, economics, and business decision-making.
In her current role as Development Economist, Gabrielle works between the Vietnam and Myanmar offices. She applies her background in analytical research, technology, and global development to enhance evidence-based strategies, utilising assessments and quantitative insights to foster long-term progress in emerging markets.
