Zahir Shah is working as an Economist at MKE Myanmar. He holds MSc in Development Studies from LSE and MA (Hons) in Economics from University of St Andrews, UK. At LSE, his research thesis focused on the political economy of decentralization - examining the allocative efficiency of resources by the local governments in a clientelist polity.
Prior to joining MKE, Zahir has worked on projects with UNOPS in Myanmar and Adam Smith International in Pakistan. His area of expertise include programme and portfolio management, quantitative and qualitative research, socio-economic and political economy analysis. With Adam Smith International, he was responsible for developing M&E system for tracking and monitoring periodic achievements of education service provision. He assisted development of M&E plan, a results-based online management information system and work plans online tracking system for efficient delivery and monitoring of the largest DFID funded education programme in Pakistan.
